The high-end Swiss Luxury jewelry and watch company Piaget SA was founded by Georges Edouard Piaget in 1874. He set up his first workshop for the company on his farm in the small village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Switzerland. Piaget was originally set up only to manufacture watch parts and movements for clocks and pocket watches, but around the turn of the century they made the switch and dedicated themselves to making high quality wristwatches and jewelry.
In 1988 the original company was bought by the giant luxury goods holding company, Compagnie Financière Richemont SA. The movements are still manufactured in the same town where it was started, although the Piaget headquarters is currently in Geneva, Switzerland. The Swiss watch company has thus launched and re-launched various successful lines such as the Possession, Tanagra, Limelight, Miss Protocole with its interchangeable straps, and the classic Emperador line.
Piaget is famous for the simplicity and class in their watch and jewelry lines. Their watches are known for their ultra-thin movements, complicated tourbillon movements, retrograde movements, and self-winding movements.
In 2008, Piaget was awarded the prestigious title of being the sixth most prestigious jewelry brand in the world”, by The Luxury Institute. Piaget watches have continued to embody the original essence of the company while pushing the boundaries of luxury and prestige.
