About Rolex Datejust
Up until the 1950’s, most watches did not have an indication of a calendar and therefore only showed the time of the day. In 1945, Rolex introduced the first Rolex Datejust, which featured an automatic movement and a quick set mechanism. Instead of relying on the owner to wind his watch every single day, the new movement had a power reserve that when worn by the owner, the power would be generated by his wrist movement, and that power would be stored for later use (hence the power reserve name).
Today, the new Rolex Datejust took on a new case, new movement, and bright new dials that changed the everyday Datejust from a simple watch, to an elegant dressy timepiece. The new case of 41mm features a thicker stainless-steel case made in 904L steel, which is stronger than most metals. For their 2017 models of the new Datejust, reference 126301, 126334, and 126300, Rolex introduced a new movement featuring the blue coil and 70-hour power reserve. But not only the movement was updated, the dials were replaced by bright colors such as tint grey and earth chocolate, which probably took its ideas from previous Rolex models. The previous Datejust II was only available in the Oyster band, while the new Datejust 41mm, is available in both Oyster and Jubilee bands.
Please note, what is so special about the Rolex Datejust is that it not only tells time, it tells history; and how the Rolex Datejust evolved into being the most recognized and popular model in the history of Rolex.
