Founded by Luis-François Cartier in Paris, France in 1847, the Cartier watch company was family owned and operated for a astonishing 117 years before being sold in 1964. Although the company’s headquarters remains in Paris, the company is currently owned by the Luxury goods holding company called Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, based in Switzerland.
Cartier is known for being equally famous for their Jewelry and Watch collections that have been seen being used by movie stars, to musicians, to royalty. In fact, Cartier has a very extensive history of creating and selling their jewelry and watches to many of the Royal families of Europe and Africa.
Beginning with trend-setting Santos Watch in 1904, Cartier has continued to push the boundaries of watch design to show class and prestige. Cartier has continued with that same mission today still selling the most classic watches and continually releasing new models. Watches such as the Cartier Roadster Chronograph with its more bulky but elegant design, and the classic Cartier Tank Watch, with its slim elegant look, have proven the longevity of Cartier.
Other watches such as the Calibre de Cartier and the Cartier Astrorégulateur have been able to capture the same elegant essence of Cartier while giving it a very modern luxury look that has proven to stand the test of time. Just as the Cartier brand has done so for over 170 years.
